The elements are there and with their accomplishment detailed right before them, everything seems to be in place for the current stars of the United Reds team towards impending superstardom. However, it takes more than just one championship to categorize them in the legendary status that they are aiming for. Winning tradition is the key and for Dutch Stopper Edwin van der Sar, this is achievable.
“You do not become a legend overnight - you have to win things over a long period,” insists van der Sar. “The players have shown their ability this season. Every game has been important for us and we’ve shown we have been up for every one.
“Every player selected for Saturday or Tuesday or Wednesday has had to perform and we have not had to carry any one.
“Chelsea were so well ahead in the previous seasons. But this season, we have been playing well enough to cope with anything that has been put in our way.
“The squad is well positioned to achieve something special,” adds the 36-year-old. “It takes a long time to work towards something like this but now the team must go on.
“It is not just about winning something once but two or three times and that is the challenge.” - Starlets can become legends
Hence to sum it all up, it is for the current roster of the United Reds to gain or lose. Everything is under their hands.

After a forgetful loss to AC Milan, the Reds are back in harness with a much needed victory over the Manchester City. The United Reds defeated the Manchester City 1-0 courtesy of Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty goal.
It was a path towards the right direction as the painful loss had been a bitter pill to swallow for the powerhouse United Reds ball club. But in the same way that they have rebounded from various setbacks throughout, it was a good statement to prove that the Reds do have what it takes to recover lost ground especially in the ongoing Premiereship title.
Actually, the loss to AC Milan seemed to have awoken a sleeping giant beset by various issues and injuries and Manchester City was unfortunately in the way of the wrath of the Reds. Through the efforts of Cristiano Ronaldo and Michael Carrick, the hard-earned victory is something to put them back on the right track and recover whatever loss they had encountered beforehand.

Many people know the impossible can happen, but even for this famous and decorated ball club, something has to give some time. Already beset with injuries to key players, the United Reds fell short of their goal as they bowed to the superior AC Milan 3-0 in the San Siro.
There was nothing really lost but pride since ordinarily, playing beyond the odds and reaching this stage of the tournament despite lack of player arsenal has been an overachievement in itself. As Sir Alex Ferguson put it:
“We gave away goals very cheaply and at this level you can’t do that. Credit to Milan though, they pressed us really well and were very well prepared. They were certainly sharper and quicker to the ball. They’ve been good winners.”
Truly, United may have played poorly, but credit this to fatigue and lack of player experience in tow. Whatever the excuse may be, it all stands that the United Reds have once again why they are among the elite ball clubs to grace the sport.

Time and again it has been said that the key to a good offense is good defense. This is becoming a household adage in any game and the United Reds had to find it out the hard way. Their poor performance in protecting the ball was a key factor in their loss to AC Milan 5-3 at the Champions League semi-finals second leg.
Such sentiments were voiced out by Reds winger Ryan Giggs as the team suffered the heartbreaking setback all due to its making. The team had all the chances and could have even pulled it off if they had pulled their act together. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be. The Reds offensive sock was still around, but without proper defense on the other end, all of the efforts are negated and led to the painful setback.
“In both legs, we’ve let bad goals in and there’s no defending that,” he admitted. “We attack as a team and we defend as a team and we didn’t defend as well as we have this season against Milan.” – Ryan Giggs, Poor possession costly.

An injury time winning goal was all that was needed and Wayne Rooney became the unlikely savior, helping the United Reds buck a 2-1 lead during halftime and escape with a 3-2 victory over AC Milan at Old Trafford in the semi-finals first leg.
It was poetry in motion for Rooney as he executed a goal on a perfect assist coming from Paul Scholes. The hard earned win was evident as emphatically stated by Rooney after the game. They now carry the momentum going into the second leg next Wednesday in the Champions League decider in San Siro.
“It’s a great feeling,” he told ITV Sport. “It was a difficult match but when it got late we kept going. We knew the victory would make it a little bit easier for the away leg. And to get a goal in the last minute is a great feeling.
“It was fantastic. At 2-1 behind at half-time against a very good Milan team, we knew it would be difficult to get the win. The manager told us too keep pushing, keep going and we’ll get the goals, and we did.” –Rooney relieved by winner

Already plagued with injuries and a rough and tumble season, no other than the left soldiers of the United Reds in the person of Michael Carrick believes that United can get the job done when they meet AC Milan for a place in the Champions League Finals.
The season has not been a bright one for the United Reds and they have had to maximize their roster sans big names that have fallen to injuries. Yet despite these circumstances, United finds itself in a similar situation of proving why it has been among the favorites in this line of sport.
Reaching this far using their current lineup is no easy task and the only way to go is up. Losing one game does not make a difference but from all indications and with the common goal of the remaining Reds is concerned, there is so much to achieve and nothing to lose but prestige.

After a heartbreaking stalemate, the United Reds are obviously frustrated at the turn of events. Mark Viduka’s goal on the stroke of half-time was a killer blow for United as the Australian forward’s header consigned the Reds to a frustrating 1-1 deadlock.
Demoralizing as it may be, the United Reds cannot afford to let up. Injuries and working on limited player resources has not helped them one bit. But this should not be an excuse. The Reds are known better than this and it is obvious that they are far from done.
Leaning on rich tradition and history with regards to how the game is played, Manchester United is far from throwing in the towel. Heart and determination must be maintained and the key towards rekindling any remaining hopes of their injury plagued campaign depends entirely on them. Besides, based on the past records of the ball club, nothing comes easy so this is not a situation to which they are new to.

The combined efforts displayed by the severely depleted United Reds line-up justify the adage that a team game can be won without key players if they stick together. Such was the result of the Reds in their 4-1 victory over Waftord that pushed them to a seat in the FA Cup finals.
No other that Sir Alex Fergusson was there to commend the joint efforts of the ailing squad. Fergusson couldn’t ask for anything more thanks to the efforts of players Wes Brown, Gaby Heinze, Alan Smith and the outstanding plays of Wayne Rooney and hotshot Cristiano Ronaldo.
Displaying the courage and the fire of true warriors, the Reds bucked the odds of its ever growing list of injured players. It was a matter of heart and pride and this is sure to be a good momentum and motivation for the team going into the finals. Not to be forgotten as well is the overwhelming support of the United Reds fans that have been behind the back of the team despite the trying times that the team has had to weather in past weeks.

Being the best in the game will have its advantages and such was the contract offered to Cristiano Ronaldo. No details were disclosed yet but the contract states that Ronaldo will be donning the United uniform until 2012.
No other than Ryan Giggs was elated over the deal, stating that United made a good move in securing the services of the Portugese player who is destined for greatness.
“He’s been on fire this season, his form has been unbelievable. For someone in his position and of his age to be as consistent as he has been is remarkable.”
“There is no-one who can rival him as the best in the world at the moment,” he added. “He’s improved as a player, but he’s continuing to improve which is the scary thing. Whatever challenges he faces, it doesn’t bother him or faze him.
“The thing he needs to do now is to be consistent for the next ten years. If he does that he’ll rightly be up there with the greats.” - Giggs delight at Ronny deal.
Based on winning tradition and how United rewards deserving players, Cristiano Ronaldo is certainly a player on the rise that will be among the greats one day. Giggs has challenged Ronaldo to maintain his rise towards stardom and from all indications, it doesn’t seem to be a hard task for the Portugese player.
Looks like United will continue to rise on the top with its roster of talented players. The best part of it is that the players are doing it wholeheartedly and easily.
