supporting our team through thick and thin....

Chelsea 1-1 Man Utd (Match Preview)

September 23, 2008 By Redhead

Looking at our form the result is quite satisfying.Going to a Stanford Bridge after losing and drawing match in succession itself was a major challenge for Fergie.

To my surprise United started game pretty well. The first touch itself was a go.The team selection was kinda a perfect as game commenced proving many pundits wrong.Park and Hargo’s presence inched United better than our last game.

First goal came early after struggling Chelsea failed to tackle Evra’a long run.Evra’s cross found Berba who ball was scored by Park after a bouncing off Cech’s Chest.

First half was decent by both teams but things turned bad in second half for United.Fergie thought of defending the entire game with one goal and brought O’Shea in place of Park who was so far the best player in the game. The attack from United was completely neutralized and United never looked to score another. While on the other hand Chelsea moved ahead, with one coming so close by Anelka.

Ronaldo was brought but looked very passive. And so was berba. He was literally invisible for last 20 minutes. He still needs to work on fitness.
Then came the moment which kept Chelsea 4 years and 7 months unbeaten streak alive.Rooney’s clumsy challenge won Chelsea a free-kick close to mid circle.Kalou scored the goal after the freekick was flighted to him with no men marking him.

Chelsea now move 9 points ahead United.Friends this game will be most crucial one ahead in coming fixtures.
