Season Opener Manchester United v/s Portsmouth (Community Shield) Match Preview

August 10, 2008 By Redhead

The curtain raiser of the season is finally here. The match is between two teams who have known each other quite well after playing dozens of matches in past.

United are still not sure what will be they doing for this set-up as Fergie looks totally bother less and seemingly uninterested with the game.”It’s always a game we never quite use as a do-or-die thing, we use it as a barometer for fitness” said Fergie.

Keeping in mind that last year Portsmouth had an edge in FA game and beat United to ensure their Community Shield Finals and UFEA Cup spot which cannot be ignored. In fact to add more spice for today’s Pompey curry we had a tremendous form last time against Pompey too but we failed to win after we left Rooney and Ronaldo out of the game.Which is kind of similar over here.So we are left with no options but to get United’s second team players.F.Campbell is one of them which can be taken into consideration by Fergie.
Moreover,Harry’s got some artillery reinforced as they signed England’s striker Peter Crouch. He and Defoe are two different things since we last met.
Gary Neville will be commencing his come-back with today’s match.Fracturing is ankle Gary played only 2 competitive game since March 2007.Defense as such is too strong with United so that hardly matters us for time being.Till then Gary can set his foot to the ground and get his sync back.

I dont think taking Pompey will be much trouble.
My prediction 2-1
