Fergie still wants Hargreaves

Hargreaves

If there is one quality that can accurately describe Sir Alex Ferguson it is his tenacity. Despite initial talks bogging down Sir Alex still has not lost hope in his bid to sign Owen Hargreaves.

Manchester United still has not resumed its initial negotiations with Bayern Munich for Hargreaves but Fergie is being firm in that he does not want to be derailed in signing the football star.

Both the Red Devils and the Bundesliga champs got locked in fierce negotiations during the close season as the Reds tried to take the 25 year old England native.

Bayern Munich was very firm in its refusal to let go of Hargreaves and this eventually led to the deterioration of negotiations that ended in bitter words being thrown by both camps towards each other. It even came to a point where Manchester United was being threatened with a possible administrative case. Hargreaves himself was not spared the drama when he was publicly reprimanded by Bayern management for publicly airing his interest in moving to Old Trafford.

The pre season ended with Hargreaves still with Bayern Munich. Last September, Hargreaves suffered a broken leg but is now recovering. Now there are rumors flying that Manchester United will again resume its pursuit of Hargreaves in January.

Sir Alex has already admitted that he is quite intent on signing Hargreaves but was unable to give any kind of update due to the fact that Manchester United still has not resumed its talks with Bayern Munich.
