Former Manchester United scout Hugh Roberts has died aged 84.
Roberts lived in Caernarfon and for many years served as the main eyes in North Wales for the Old Trafford club.
The scouts’ positions are one the least recognized and yet most important roles at United.
One of his greatest discoveries for United was Mark Hughes, the former Wales striker and manager who is now in charge of Blackburn Rovers.
Hughes was spotted as a 12-year-old whilst playing for local schoolboy teams Rhos Aelwyd under-16s and Wrexham schoolboys.
